Clay Hecocks has been the worship pastor of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale since 1990. Since that time he has seen the church grow from a body of 600 believers to a fellowship of 30,000 and six campuses. Clay and his team strive for spiritual integrity and musical excellence as they oversee worship for 23 weekly services at 6 different campuses.
Clay’s musical career began as a classical pianist. After nearly 6 years of undergraduate and graduate training in piano performance, Clay began to follow his love of contemporary music. All of this training made for a perfect fit for fulfilling God’s call to lead worship after giving his life to the Lord at the age of 23.
Another fruit of Clay’s ministry has been in the area of writing, arranging and producing contemporary Christian music. He has produced numerous worship projects, led several worship DVD’s and has written and co-written an extensive collection of scripture songs.
Clay has blended technical training, a love for worship, and a desire to write original worship songs to model Psalm 33:3: Sing to Him a new song, play skillfully, and shout for joy.
