Brothers McClurg → Worship Leader

From a legacy that now spans three generations of music and ministry comes the band Brothers McClurg. What started out as two bands fronted by brothers Anthony and Chris Hoisington, has turned into a band of Christian brothers who share a desire to see lives changed through worship.

Until recently, the band was known as Relevant Worship, the name of their community-wide ministry in western New York state. With their signing to Integrity Music, the band decided to embrace their musical heritage by taking the name Brothers McClurg. The moniker pays homage to Chris and Anthony’s greatest influence, their maternal grandfather Pastor Bill McClurg. Now in his 80s, Pastor McClurg was the leader of the southern gospel group The McClurg Family Singers, and he remains a ministry leader within their community. “We see it as a way of continuing his legacy while giving it a fresh vision,” says Chris.

Hailing from Buffalo, NY, the band has been working to bring a bit of warmth and hope to an area known for its frigid winters and depressed economy. Their mission is to carry Jesus’ message of life, hope and forgiveness to their city, loving their community through prayer and acts of service, blessing the Church and uniting the body of Christ in worship.

“We want to spur one another on, lifting up the name of Christ inside the church, as well as in the streets,” adds Anthony. “Our goal is to rally the church to action, loving one another and also loving the ‘unlovely’ and replicating this passion in every city and community we encounter.”

Spreading their music far beyond the northeast, Brothers McClurg recently released their first full-length album, the 14-track Join In The Sound, which is available everywhere Christian music is sold within the U.S and abroad. The project follows an introductory digital EP, Alive, released in 2011. Both projects feature the band’s folk-rock and country influenced style of worship and include songs penned by Chris and Anthony and co-written with a variety of their friends and labelmates including All Sons & Daughters, Paul Baloche and Rend Collective Experiment.
