Most of the songs here are recognizable, but let me just highlight a couple right now: “All I Have Is Christ” and “My Maker and My King.”
The first one is from Sovereign Grace music. See the video here of this powerful song (“All I Have is Christ.” If you are not already familiar with Sovereign Grace, let me introduce you. Here is their music site. Basically they are very intentional about infusing their music with biblically faithful lyrics. Very Christ-centered, and their hymns are just as accessible to the modern ears as anything out there.
With a similar musical approach, you need to check out Mike Cosper and Sojourn church.
They do a lot of work reworking the classic hymns of the Church (Mostly 17th Century types of hymns, Isaac Watts seems to be the patron hymnodist, of sorts). They give them modern voicings and have a thriving creative community that is passionate about the poetry and heart of this style of song. Take a listen to “My Maker and My King” here.
