Bethel Music’s latest release, The Loft Sessions, was recorded live alongside friends and family in a refurbished rustic loft during several nights of worship. This is new territory for Bethel as they merge acoustic creativity with modern melodies of original songs by Brian and Jenn Johnson, Jeremy Riddle, and others.
More: This offering is fresh, fun, and authentic. The acoustic bent on these tunes flows well and feels finished. As well, there are glimpses of wonderful Spirit-led worship moments throughout. “You Have Won Me” and “Walk in the Promise” are absolute standouts.
Less: After a few listens The Loft Sessions comes around, but there is a lack of strong hooks to cut through the acoustic clutter available on the market.
