Function: Changes the pitch/function of your cymbals
Overview: We’ve heard it a million times, but the Meinl Cymbal Tuners might be the very definition of the phrase “simplest is best”. They may look like a joke, but before you write it off as some kind of Christmas stocking stuffer novelty, look a little closer! Designed to get the most out of your cymbals, the Cymbal Tuners can change your bright crash to a dark crash, or even a washy ride with the right placement. For the price, every drummer should have a set of these in his or her bag.
How it works: The “simplicity” of the Meinl Cymbal Tuners isn’t a mystery, they’re just magnets that sit on your cymbal to change the fundamental note, volume, decay, resonance, and general sound of your cymbals. The Cymbal Tuners come in a set of two pairs of magnets in a little carrying case that you can attach to a keychain. By placing the magnets on different spots on your cymbal, you can completely change the sound of the cymbal, allowing you to get the most out of each cymbal you own. We found that placing one of the larger tuners near the bell of the cymbal greatly reduces volume and sustain, but lets you hear the whole cymbal, perfect for a church drummer behind a shield!
Bottom Line: Greatly reduces volume and sustain but doesn’t compromise the sound of the cymbal.
