Through one on one coaching with your mentor and group sessions with other worship leaders, our goal is to be a sounding board and a resource.

Jason Squires

Cohort Lead

Jason Squires is a worship leader, songwriter, and a storyteller. Jason travels nationally leading worship and teaching at conferences. Along with being an artist, Jason wears a couple other hats. He is the Director of Cohorts for Worship Leader Magazine, the Director of Worship Arts at Anthem Church in San Rafael, CA, and owns a music teaching school in Woodland, CA called Musictown Studio. Jason’s passion is leading people to Jesus through creativity and inspiring creatives to reach their full potential. Jason married his High School sweetheart in 2007 and has three beautiful daughters.

Crystal Yates

Cohort mentor

Crystal Yates resides in Mckinney, TX with her husband Will and their two boys. Crystal and her husband have been leading worship together ever since they met in college over 20 years ago. She knew she would be leading others in worship and writing songs some day.  “I saw a husband and wife leading worship at my granny’s church when I was 5 years old, I felt God’s presence so strong, and I knew that’s who I wanted to be”, says Crystal.  Heeding to that calling, Crystal Yates has made an indelible mark in Christian music, with songs she’s authored topping the charts and being recorded by artists such as Selah, Micah Tyler, Jason Crabb, Latin artist Julissa, and many many more.  Many of her songs, such as “What Mercy Did For Me”, “You Are Emmanuel”, “I Got Saved”, are sung in congregations every Sunday at churches around the world, bringing back full circle the passion once ignited as a little girl.

Marvin Mumford

Cohort mentor

Marvin Mumford has been actively serving in ministry for 23 years. He has served in various pastoral roles from youth director, outreach and community director, director of evangelism, worship director, director of missions and director of finance. He is an ordained pastor with Calvary Chapel Ministries Worldwide. He has had the opportunity to travel both domestically as well as internationally. He has lead worship for the KLOVE Cruise, Music Boat, National Football League and the Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburg Steelers, NASCAR, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Athletes in Action, Camp Electric, and a host of various festivals and church organizations. Marvin is a dynamic speaker and is a resident instructor for Toby Mac’s Camp Electric, resident speaker for the Salvation Army, and resident speaker for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also serves as part of the Chaplin’s Care Team for both Savannah State College, and Georgia Southern University. His ministry is both transcultural and multidimensional.

He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Jinaki Petty-Mumford of 23 years. They have 4 boys Marvin II, Myles, Micah and Malachi.

Joe Horness

Cohort mentor

After 25 years as the Worship Director and a leader on the Programming staff at Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago, Illinois, Joe spent the next 10 years helping to plant a church Traverse City, Michigan, where served as the Associate Pastor and Director of Worship Arts. As a nationally known worship leader, Joe has worked closely with artists such as Darlene Zschech, Abraham Laboriel and Tommy Walker, and has written and recorded several familiar worship choruses, including “Everything I Am,” “Awesome, Amazing,” “To Know You More,” and “Still I Will Worship You.” He is co- author of the book, “Exploring the Worship Spectrum” and of numerous articles on worship and worship leading. As the director of Engaging the Heart Ministries he regularly teaches and consults with churches on the topic of planning services, leading worship, building teams and leading authentic worship ministries. Joe has been married to his wife, Becky, for 33 years and is the father of two daughters, Torri and Abby.

Michael Bahn

Cohort Mentor

Michael Bahn is the Executive Pastor of Creative Arts & Administration at River Valley Church in Grants Pass, OR. As a worship artist and songwriter, he records and releases his music, actively teaches on worship leadership and songwriting through conferences and seminars worldwide, and also serves as faculty teaching on Worship Leadership for Pacific Bible College in Medford, Oregon.

Darnisha Taylor

Cohort Mentor

Darnisha Taylor is a passionate worshiper of Christ, song arranger/writer and recording artist. She is currently Worship Pastor in charge of creative arts and technical ministry at Bay Life Church in Brandon, FL. She has served in music ministry and taught at the college level for over 17 years. Her background ranges from serving in established mega churches to building brand new church plants. Her experiences have afforded her a unique skill set which include; how to build teams, training bands and vocalists, developing volunteers and melding diverse cultures and generations through worship arts. Darnisha would love the opportunity to encourage you and share insight God has provided her over years of ministry.

Grant Norsworthy

Cohort Mentor

Grant Norsworthy is not another singer who talks too much. He’s a speaker who sings songs. An Aussie who was based in Nashville, Tennessee, USA from 2002 to 2018, Grant Norsworthy achieved considerable success as a professional musician including a Grammy® nomination, a Dove Award, extensive touring, recording and radio hits with bands like Paul Colman Trio and Sonicflood. Now conducting global ministry work from his Nelson, New Zealand home base, Grant uses his musicianship, freewheeling wit and uncommon candour to encourage audiences to deeper faith in Christ and good works. As the founder, content developer and principal instructor for More Than Music Mentor, he provides high quality online and onsite training for the heart and the art of worshiping musicians everywhere.
