Music Review | “Poetry” By For The Fatherless

Randy Cross

Taking the name of their band from their individual life experience as children who were raised without biological fathers, Brian and Christa Yak join their voices as For the Fatherless and they have a story to tell.

Married since 2008, these worship leaders from Nashville release Poetry, a 4-song EP that reflects more of their continued journey with Jesus. Following their eponymous 2014 record and its follow-up, Worship SessionsPoetry relates the stories of their personal struggles and victories in an electronic and ethereal manner that is enjoyable, peaceable, and equally reflective.

From the title track, to the remix of the worship anthem “Immeasurably More” each track confronts and comforts as you travel down the road of healing and joy.

The acapella ending of “Faithfully Mine” leaves the listener anticipating what an entire acapella song might be like from this creative couple.

More: Great taste of what is to come from the husband/wife duo.

Less: There are just enough tracks to get a taste of the overall story that the Yak’s intend to tell. We can hardly wait for more cuts from these Nashville worship leaders.
