This Worship Sound Bite with Ryan Kennedy focuses on seeking wisdom from those who have seen trials. Ryan is a resident artist at Big House Church in Spring, Texas. He is a songwriter, worship leader, and music artist often on tour with his wife Charity Gayle. He has a heart for worship and thirst for wisdom.
Ryan seeks wisdom from the older generation who have experienced hardship. “I want to hear from those who have their roots go deep, because they’ve experienced tests and trials.” He surrounds himself with four or five pastors that speak into his life and his worship ministry. When asked how he would define worship, he says, “I think worship is that moment when you see Jesus and it’s your natural response to humble yourself… understanding who he is and who I am.”
What is worship? If Jesus walked in the room, you wouldn’t have to ask that question. You [would] just naturally do it.
Ryan did not grow up in a church that really engaged in worship. So, he had to turn to other resources, like YouTube, watching worship leaders he loved and interviews with those he respected. He recalls a forty-five minute interview of Kari Jobe speaking about her heart for worship and what an impact that made on him.
