Song Discovery: “Beautiful Gospel” with Bay Turner

Joshua Swanson

Bay Turner is one of those artists that God decided to give a rollercoaster ride of a journey BEFORE allowing him a platform in order to prepare him with a testimony that could only point back to God. After an accident that paralyzed his vocal cords and then experiencing miraculous healing, Bay returned to the national stage to sing Biblical on America’s Got Talent and let his voice soar.

The song he performed for this edition of Song Discovery was titled Beautiful Gospel. Songwriter credits are Bay Turner, Tony Wood, and John Allan. The guitarist was Tommy Gerlach.

From Bay:

This song was inspired by an interaction that I had with my grandmother, Joy, a few days before her passing. I felt the leading from The Holy Spirit to share the gospel with her and pray her through the salvation prayer on a Thursday afternoon – – the following Monday she went to be with Jesus.

I had such a peace after passing, because I knew that one day I would get to see her again. I came to the realization in that moment that the gospel is so beautiful and so far-reaching that it can touch you even on your death bed, or behind prison bars, or when your marriage is failing or anything in between.

Lyrics

I’ll never forget the moment it hit me,
that arrow of truth found my soul,
when I cried out to heaven,
Oh, Jesus, come save me,
Let Your grace make my heart its home.
Oh praise You for the beautiful gospel.
The good news, it sets sinners free.
Oh Praise You for the beautiful gospel
You still reach, You still redeem.
Oh, Jesus, You still redeem.

I think about souls
down through the ages.
Prodigals, rebels come and gone.
And the mercy that’s found them
the moment they cried out.
The good news is still running on
Oh praise You for the beautiful gospel.
The good news it sets sinners free.
Oh praise You for the beautiful gospel
You still reach and You still redeem
Oh Jesus, You still redeem.

81 years, my mother’s mother
Carried the weight of her sin.
In her last month, the spirit move and we talked
Now I know I’ll see her again
Oh praise You for the beautiful gospel
The good news it sets sinners free
Oh praise You for the beautiful gospel
You still reach and You still redeem
Oh, Jesus, you still redeem.

Oh praise you for the beautiful gospel
The good news that sets sinners free
Oh praise You for the beautiful gospel
You still reach and You still redeem
Oh Jesus, You still redeem.
