Russell Evans – The Senior Pastor Is A Worship Leader

Russell Evans Senior Pastor Worship Leader

Worship isn’t a performance. It’s a heart response to Jesus! P. Evans brings a great word for those in church leadership that don’t “identify” as a worship leader. You may need to rethink your title or get a bigger business card. Side note, does anyone carry business cards anymore? LOL.

We interviewed Russell Evans back in March and we continue to circle back to his wise words for our Worship Sound Bites series. A healthy relationship between any leadership team, whether in a church or just in the marketplace, is hugely important to the success of that organization. In the case of the Church, the depth of discipleship that will happen within your community directly correlates to the health of the relationship between all of your leaders.

We hope this clip challenges all church leaders, elders, pastors, worship leaders, and anyone serving at a church to lead by going deep in the Word of God and staying “ahead” of your congregations in terms of spiritual formation.

Yeah. Senior pastor is a worship leader. In fact, one of my great frustrations on the planet is when I go to conferences and I say the pastors all looking around. Everyone else is engaged. I need the check and everything out. They’re not engaging themselves. But then when they get on stage, I want everyone to engage.

So worship is not the stage. Worship is your heart. It’s your life. And so and I always teach people, particularly pastors and leaders. You want your congregation to go so far? You got to you’ve got to be a little bit further than they are because they will come up to where you are. So if you’re down here and you’re wanting them to come up here, you might be on the stage and you want them to come up.

But when you’re in the seat, are you up here? And because worship isn’t a performance, it’s it’s a heart. It’s a heart response to Jesus. And and I talk to people this all the time. What’s the real you? Because people say, well, I’m not that clapping type of guy. And I got a little this won’t be the same.

It’ll be a little bit longer, but it will be good. Yeah. Senior pastor is a worship leader. In fact, one of my great frustrations on the planet is when I go to conferences and I see the pastors all looking around. Everyone else is engaged and there’s the check and everything out there not engaging themselves. But then when they get on stage, I want everyone to engage.
