This One is for the Worship Leaders…

Natalie Runion

This one is for the worship leaders who war with song and teach us how to sing over our night. You carry both skill and anointing, craft and authority, ability and breakthrough.  We come to you on Sunday mornings a little timid at first but with great precision and discernment you lead us into the Holy of Holies.

Sometimes you feel like a glorified cheerleader, other times the general of a brave army first to reach the enemy and it’s easy to walk off the platform wondering if you were successful in waking us up, breaking walls down.

You been accused of adding to celebrity culture, you’ve been confined to green rooms and fight the weekly urge to entertain the masses with your talent.  Thank you for walking in humility, practicing in hidden places, stewarding your gifts well and stirring the gifts in others.

Thank you for writing songs that point us to Jesus and crafting sets that lead us into His presence and plowing through icy stares and crossed arms with power and purpose.  Thank you for receiving criticism with kindness and our song requests with grace.  There is a real struggle, wanting people to like you and wanting to be obedient to the Lord.  Saturday nights can bring anxiety and exhaustion follows on Sunday afternoon and you not only have to protect your soul but rely on your voice and hands to cooperate under pressure.

Thank you for making room for others beside you, for creating, collaborating and conspiring with those singing around the throne to bring Heaven as closely to earth as possible.  I see angels with their ears pressed to an eternal floor, I see saints walking the the corridors of Heaven joining the song.

Thank you for pastoring us with intentionality and originality, through Holy Ghost encounter and Biblical formation.  We see your authenticity and value the art and treasure given to you by the Master Creator.

We know you get a lot of attention.  Thank you for putting it back on the One Who deserves all the praise, honor and glory and for teaching us to do the same.

May you know that you are a vital part of the family of God and we love you not only for what you can do but who you are as a brother and sister in Christ.  We cherish your friendship, honor your leadership and affirm your calling.

“But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God.  And I want all of you to share that joy.”

Philippians 2:17 (NLT)
