Music Review | “Milk & Honey” By Crowder

Veteran worship leader David Crowder has been gifting the Church with anthemic praises to sing for quite a while now— first, as part of the David Crowder Band with songs like “How He Loves” and “O Praise Him,” then simply as Crowder on his solo venture with songs such as “Come As You Are,” “My Victory” and more.

His newest project, Milk & Honey, comes fully-loaded with Crowder’s signature southern-tinged style of worship, smothered in solid theology and offering enough of a diversity in sound to keep every listener intrigued beginning to end.

Lead single “Good God Almighty” kicks off the record with the kind of energy perfect for a Sunday service opener. “Sweet Jesus” (a collaboration with Maverick City Music) and “In The House” speak to the nearness of the Lord, while title track “Milk & Honey” and “Better Than Sunshine” are feel-good tracks of encouragement that are fitting for any summer playlist.

On the slower-paced side of the album, “God Really Loves Us,” another pairing with Maverick City Music, is an immediate stand-out moment. “Hallelujah For Every Broken Heart” is sure to be another fan favorite, followed by “The Anchor” closing out Milk & Honey with a captivating sound and lyrics of hope.

Milk & Honey is yet another project that proves why Crowder is one of the most profound worship leaders of our time. Creative yet authentic, this record captures the best parts of both the high-energy and the more intimate sides of worship.
