Ryan Kennedy’s Must Haves for 2020

Ryan Kennedy

We asked some of our contributors what their must have items for 2020 are, here’s what Ryan Kennedy had to say!

MUST HAVE BOOKS FOR 2020:

  • How To Pray: A Simple Guide for Normal People by Pete Greig
    • Of all the things I’ve learned in my walk with Jesus, there is one thing in particular that has radically changed everything and Pete Greig the author of this book says it the best: “Prayer is actually, surprisingly, pretty much the most important thing in life.” Get this book, read it and apply it. It’s a life-changer.

  • Enthroned by David Fritch
    • While it’s focused on 24/7 prayer and worship and the principles of the Tabernacle of David, it is incredibly eye-opening and a perspective changer for all worship leaders. Of all the books I read this year, this one still challenges me and is full of nuggets of wisdom I carry with me and pull from often.

MUST HAVE GEAR FOR 2020:

  • Ableton Live
    • I know this isn’t a groundbreaking discovery, but if there’s one thing I use literally every day of my life and wouldn’t leave the house without, its Ableton. I use it every day in one way or the other. As a songwriter and artist, Ableton is part of my process from the conception of a song, the production of the song and all the way to driving and executing our entire live production rig at an event. As a worship leader, Ableton gives me the ability to supplement the mix with tracks but also use MIDI control to change it up on the spot when we’re flowing. If you haven’t gotten into the world of Ableton yet, I encourage you to check it out and see how many applications you could potentially use it in. I literally couldn’t do what I do without it.

  • Breville Bambino Plus Espresso Machine
    • I also couldn’t do what I do without this. The Breville Bambino Espresso Machine. I won’t start the day without first having two things: time with Jesus and caffeine. And this little machine comes through with the caffeine every morning. I don’t know how they did it or how it works, but Breville figured out a way to help out us non-baristas pull the perfect shot of espresso every time. It’s magical.
