Jordan St. Cyr and Walking With God

Jordan St. Cyr
  • Having a divine companion we can share our every moment with is a blessing beyond compare. Sharing both our everyday thoughts and also our deepest yearnings with our savior sets us on an unshakable foundation

As a teenager, Jordan St. Cyr served with Youth With A Mission. It was during that time he knew he wanted to pursue music as his career. He says,

“My prayer is that my songs would bring comfort and joy to those who hear them. I pray that listeners would be more hopeful and open to the depths of God’s love for them, knowing that their circumstances are not a reflection of how God feels about them. Rather, their circumstances would reveal the closeness and nearness of the Holy Spirit.”

In this Worship Sound Bite, Jordan talks about both living minute by minute in God’s presence and also spending focused time with God. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Unceasing prayer is keeping an open dialogue with God throughout your day, keeping in mind that he is with you always. It’s understanding that we have a constant companion walking with us in victory and defeat, good times and hard times.

It also includes setting aside a specific time during the day to spend with him. Jordan talks about how important this is, “Setting aside time to just dig in with Him, get quiet, get silent.” Daniel is a great example of focused time with God. You see this in Daniel 6:10 “Daniel always prayed to God three times every day. Three times every day, he bowed down on his knees to pray and praise God. Even though Daniel heard about the new law, he still went to his house to pray. He went up to the upper room of his house and opened the windows that faced toward Jerusalem. Then Daniel bowed down on his knees and prayed just as he always had done.”

Having a divine companion we can share our every moment with is a blessing beyond compare. Sharing both our everyday thoughts and also our deepest yearnings with our savior sets us on an unshakable foundation. Matthew 7:24-29 “When we build on a firm foundation of Christ, we can withstand whatever comes our way. A foundation based on God produces steadfast faith and life.”
