TAYA – A Sacrifice of Praise
- Following titanic songs like Oceans and Touch the Sky, TAYA’s voice became widely recognized in the worship industry. For two years TAYA worked on her first self-titled album.
TAYA came from a small town in the north of Australia. To pursue her career in music, she moved to Sidney and got involved with Hillsong Church, working with youth and young adults, and on their creative team. After a time she got involved with Hillsong UNITED, and performed around the world with the well-known worship band.
Following titanic songs like Oceans and Touch the Sky, TAYA’s voice became widely recognized in the worship industry. For two years TAYA worked on her first self-titled album. Her desire is to lead worship that points people to Jesus. Her first album reflects that desire. She says, “Some people may know my voice, but for the first time ever I get to share with you in my own words and my own melodies, who Jesus is to me.”
In this Worship Sound Bite, TAYA references Romans 12:1-2 as a linch-pin in working out what worship is in all areas of life. She makes the point that worship is an act of obedience in all aspects of life. It’s a sacrifice, and a directive to conform to God and not the world.
In The Walk podcast, TAYA talks of how scripture, prayer and worship have been her constant companion on her faith journey. In experiencing pain, broken relationships, and suffering, she has learned that God comforts the brokenhearted and is working all things for his glory.
Those trials have shown her how important it is to never lose her view of God, and what he’s done for us through his Son. TAYA is passionate about leading people in authentic worship as they discover more about God and his Son, Jesus.

And another verse that kind of helps them go, Okay, well, how do I outwork, what, this worship is? Romans 12:1 and a few of those verses, particularly in the message paraphrases my favorite. And it says, In view of God’s mercy, I love that everything is a response to God because He loved us first. But it says, In view of God’s mercy, bring your every day, your eating, your sleeping, your walking around life and place it before God as an offering, holy and pleasing to Him.
That is our true and proper worship, and I love that it’s obedience to what God’s calling us to do in all areas of our life. Bringing a sacrifice. Bringing a sacrifice of praise, whatever that looks like. And it has to be worked out in every area of our life in- and again, like never losing that view of God, never losing that view of what He’s done for us through His Son,
That’s worship to me. And I’m learning how to continually live a life of worship and- and let it always be in response to God. Not what I think I’m bringing to God. But, you know, I’m just responding to what God has really done for- for me through his Son Jesus.

Long before TAYA became one of UNITED’s most acclaimed and impactful vocalists, with over one billion streams and numerous world tours over the last decade, her journey with Jesus began in the small town of Lismore, Australia. Her mother led her in the sinner’s prayer at age five and she attended a small community church with her family where her father was an elder & worship leader.
