Music Review | Live At Church By Josh Baldwin
Despite a mounting pile of musical accolades, worship leader and singer-songwriter Josh Baldwin keeps his focus on writing and singing songs for the whole church to sing with his new EP, Live At Church. He says, “The album really feels like coming home to me…I have been leading worship for over 20 years in the church and it still feels like the most natural expression of who I am. My heart has always been to write songs for the Church and for corporate worship around the world, and I pray that this album brings the Church fresh encounters with the presence of God.”
Live At Church is a compilation of those 7 fresh worship songs recorded live at the Bethel Music Worship School. “My King Forever” is a new song by Baldwin, Ethan Hulse and Brian Johnson. Baldwin says this song is a song of thankfulness in praise of Jesus for all the blessings he has been given in life. The album also includes his single, “Let the Redeemed. ” “Let the Redeemed” is a key example of Josh’s rich voice, captivating melodies, and Scripture-focused songs, portraying the image of God as Deliverer. Live At Church also includes worship songs such as “Fountains,” “Endlessly,” and “You Deserve It All” which were featured on Baldwin’s 2017 music debut, The War Is Over. “All I Really Want” is a spontaneous song, which shows not only Josh’s talents, but the movement of the Holy Spirit in his work.
Josh’s commendations include his 2019 GMA Dove Award nomination for New Artist of the Year. His song, “Stand in Your Love” took the #2 spot on Christian radio and made it to the top 10 in Billboard’s 2019 Christian Airplay Songs chart. Passionate about church music, Josh continues to serve as a worship leader at Bethel Church of Redding, California, where he lives with his wife and children.
More: Josh Baldwin’s Live At Church is an engaging compilation of worship music for the church of today. Josh’s melodies are singable and memorable and his lyrics filled with solid theological themes, making for an all-around album that the church needs to hear and sing.
Less: Josh certainly lives up to his accolades in Live At Church. Today’s worshippers need to hear more of his songs added to this album.
