“All my weakness, all my sickness, every worry; You can have it all. All desires, mind and body, every heartbeat; You can have it all.”
Jesus says, “[T]he hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” It is a humbling realization that the truth we have to offer God is that we are in need; that we are sick; that we are limited (and tired or bored or angry); that our hopes and desires are divided. It feels much better to offer God selves we are proud of. Being honest with ourselves and God is a most difficult task, but God doesn’t want us to honor him with our lips while our hearts are far from him. He wants our hearts, for better or worse. Higher leads us into that honest place where true worship can be given.
