Lester Ruth started out as a pastor with an interest in worship history and has become a worship historian who maintains pastoral sensibilities. His heart-felt commitment is to use the wealth of the history of worship history to enrich the worship of Christian congregations today. Most of his publications have dealt with worship in the earliest centuries of Christianity of among American Evangelicals or Pentecostals of the last 200 years. He is also deeply interested in show contemporary songwriters the marvels of classic worship songs and doctrines to spark their creative imaginations for new songs. He, too, plays around on the djembe and congas but admits he's not very good (although enthusiastic).
